Rock Creek Regional Park

An 1,800-acre park with picturesque Lake Needwood and Lake Frank, which were formed by dams on two forks of Rock Creek.  The park features picnic areas, boating, fishing, and many wonderful trails.

Rock Creek Hiker-Biker Trail

One of the most popular trails in the metro area, this 18.6-mile trail extends from the Maryland/DC line to Rock Creek Regional Park.

Matthew Henson Trail

A lovely 4.2-mile paved surface trail along Turkey Branch, a tributary of Rock Creek and the location of a Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection stream restoration project.

Lake Frank and Meadowside Trails

This 7-mile natural surface trail system features a shoreline trail at Lake Bernard Frank, trails to Sunfish Pond and Pioneer Study Pond as well as several miles of nature trails.

Lake Needwood Trails

These trails offer beautiful views of Lake Needwood, although there is no way to walk around the lake.

City of Rockville Parks

Rock Creek flows through the heart of Montgomery County, MD, and most of the land in the Rock Creek Watershed is administered by the county.  Part of the land associated with Rock Creek is under the jurisdiction of the City of Rockville, including the beautiful Civic Center Park, which features a nature center, trails, formal gardens, and more.
