Thank You 2024 Extreme Cleanup Volunteers!
A huge shout out and THANK YOU to the nearly 750+ volunteers who joined us through the month of April for the annual Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup. Together, we removed more than 8,000 pounds of litter from the watershed, in an incredible demonstration of the cumulative impact of people-powered restoration. This is a tremendous support for Rock Creek water quality and the overall park visitor experience.
Check out our Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup photo album to relive the excitement!
This important restoration work would not be possible without your hard work in our watershed. Thank you for dedicating your time and energy to protecting this precious urban oasis.
Rock Creek extreme Cleanup - April 2025
For the past 15 years, thousands of volunteers have come together to support the Rock Creek Conservancy's people-powered restoration efforts at the Rock Creek watershed through our annual Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup!
The 2025 Extreme Cleanup will kick off with numerous events the morning of April 5th and proceed through the entire month!
Cleanup events are hosted throughout the watershed all month long, with volunteers picking up litter (a visible form of stormwater pollution), enjoying time outside, and giving back to the community.
This annual event is hosted in partnership with the Alice Ferguson Foundation as a part of the Potomac Watershed Cleanup.

Find an Event (Coming SOON!)
One of the most powerful aspects of the Extreme Cleanup is that a majority of the volunteer cleanups are led by our Stream Team Leaders. We anticipate these volunteer leaders will host over 50 total events in April, including private cohorts of coworkers and neighbors; community groups like Boy Scouts or schools; and public events where volunteers are encouraged to come together out of a shared love for the watershed.
