MLK WEEKEND OF SERVICE

Our annual MLK Day of Service event at the Carter Barron Amphitheater.

Every year, in honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rock Creek Conservancy, in partnership with the National Park Service and Montgomery Parks, celebrates MLK Day with the MLK Weekend of Service.

Dr. King devoted his life to equality, social justice, economic advancement, and opportunity for all. This multi-day volunteer event is part of a nationwide effort to empower individuals, build community connections, and celebrate Dr. King’s conviction that “all of life is interrelated” by protecting the parklands that increase our region's social and climate resilience.

We can’t wait to get out and celebrate with you all for the MLK Weekend of Service. This is a great opportunity to connect with others in the Rock Creek community around shared values and vision for the future.

UPCOMING MLK DAY EVENTS

As MLK Day events are scheduled, they will be added to the calendar below. If none are available at this time, we encourage you to view our full calendar here for more volunteer opportunities.

Want to go solo? Register your individual clean-up!

Individual cleanups are just what they sound like: you, a trash bag, and whatever part of the Rock Creek watershed that means the most to you. You may choose any time and date that works for you to complete this activity; if you are in a park, be sure you are only working during the hours the park is open (generally dawn to dusk).
