Rock Creek Gala

Saturday, October 15, 2022

5:00 to 7:30pm

Outside the Rock Creek Park Nature Center

about the gala

Rock Creek Conservancy has hosted an annual gala every fall since 2015, celebrating the Rock Creek community and all who make our work possible. The proceeds of the Gala go towards the mission of the Conservancy, helping fuel the people-powered restoration that helps to protect the forests, keep our water clean, improve the park visitor experience, and increase equity of access to the park.

Washington Life Magazine recently published a spread of photos from our 2021 Gala, which you can view on page 14 here.

Please join us on Saturday October 15, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:30pm outside of the Rock Creek Park Nature Center for a night of drinks, music, hearty appetizers, and park views, while connecting with those who share your love of Rock Creek Park and its watershed.

HONORING Chair Brenda Mallory
White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ)

Brenda Mallory was confirmed by the United States Senate on April 14, 2021 and sworn in as the 12th Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). She is the first African American to serve in this position. As Chair, she advises the President on environmental and natural resources policies that improve, preserve, and protect public health and the environment for America’s communities. She is focused particularly on addressing the environmental justice and climate change challenges the nation faces while advancing opportunities for job growth and economic development.

Chair Mallory's career embodies Rock Creek Conservancy’s values of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion through her decades of service working for cleaner air and water for impacted communities. Her work to limit the impacts of climate change will help protect our public lands and waters, including places like Rock Creek and its parklands, which serve as a regional source of climate resilience. She and her husband Mark live in the Montgomery County portion of the Rock Creek watershed.

Thank you to all the companies and individuals who have already confirmed their support of this beautiful evening in support of Rock Creek Park and its watershed:

A Look Back at Past Galas

Between the perfect weather, the backdrop of the forests around us, and the company of over 300 friends and neighbors, the 2022 Rock Creek Gala was a truly special evening. Thank you to all those who helped make the event our most successful ever.

As social distancing and outdoor events became the new norm, the 2021 Gala took place outside the historic Klingle mansion. The event featured honoree artists Lou and Di Stovall, as well as remarks from special guest Jake Tapper.

Adjusting in unprecedented times, the Rock Creek community came together for a joyful ‘Picnic in the Park’ in the 2020. Guests were able to stop by the Carter Barron Amphitheater and take their eats and drinks to enjoy in a socially distanced setting while taking in the beauty of the park.
